Ashbourne is inspired by blue and gold patterns from the early Derby pattern books. The full in-glaze blue border has been highly fired to produce a deep rich coloring that changes with different lighting. The simplicity of the plain blue and gold patterned borders is a classic look, which will suit simple, contemporary settings as well as the more traditional. The pattern mixes easily with gold and white as well as more decorative florals.
The Royal Crown Derby Porcelain Company is owned by one of the world’s most respected ceramic brands, Steelite International, which has its headquarters in the English ‘Potteries’. It employs 200 skilled craftspeople and manufactures the highest quality English Fine Bone China at its factory on a four and a half acre site at Osmaston Road, in Derby, England. The present factory was established in 1878 but the business traces its origins to the original factory which was set up in Nottingham Road in about 1750. Queen Victoria granted permission to include the title “Royal” in the company name in 1890.
